A tech support scam is a form of fraud gaining momentum on the internet. The scam implements social engineering and fear tactics in order to get the victim to take the bait. There are three main ways this scam is executed: via cold calls, pop-up messages, and incorrect search engine results on a Mac operating system or Windows computer.

Where to report advanced support scammer?

This is the worst kind of "advanced support" scammer. You can find all sorts of reports of these folks bad deeds at the Better Business Bureau bbb.org/south-east-flori… including a description of a number of FTC complaints against them.

Does Microsoft call you for technical support?

Microsoft does not send unsolicited email messages or make unsolicited phone calls to request personal or financial information, or to provide technical support to fix your computer. Any communication with Microsoft has to be initiated by you. If a pop-up or error message appears with a phone number, don’t call the number.
